It ll be like you dumped the dry clothes into a pot of water on the stove and turned the burner on high.
If you put wet clothes in a microwave the water saturating the clothes will first heat up and boil. But elastic and polyester are not so good with heat and may melt on you. Cotton is okay as it is microwave safe material. While you can use a microwave to dry clothes made from some microwave safe materials like cotton they may not give you the expected drying results because microwaves are basically heaters but not driers.
Labels on clothing to be aware of you might not find microwave related labels on your clothes but you could find labels that refer to how flammable garments are. Just going to state the common disclaimer that unless you know the material is completely metal free you should not put it in the microwave. Remove with potholders it will be hot. If the material were washed with anything like metal shavings from your occupation you should not microwave those materials.
I t is possible to dry clothes in the microwave but you will get different results with different fabrics. Doesn t dry it out just makes it warmer. The clothes will get extremely hot and remain wet until the water is boiled away. Will smith is super hot.

Think about how it warms soups and sauces. This would happen with the water on the surface of your clothes but with the molecules deeper in the fabric they would probably continue to be heated well beyond the normal boiling point because they can t escape as fast so it may well cause a fire. It just makes your clothes warm and soggy. Water molecules in food generally travel out as steam.
