Can You Make Beef Jerky In A Smoker
Olivia Luz
There is no adding liquid smoke you let the wood of your choice infuse an intense flavor into your jerky.
When smoking jerky you need a low temperature and little smoke. Ideally the temperature should be just under 150 f 65 c. Beef jerky is made in specially designed food dryers. Dont let it become a piece of leather by keeping it too long pull them out when only a tiny but of pink remains.
This way of making jerky is as close to how it was done hundreds of years ago. Grilled and smoked outdoors this version of beef jerky is made of sliced sirloin or london broil. I use a smoker to make it. Do not use extra smoking chips in your smoker when making jerky.
Making beef jerky in a smoker in my opinion is the best way to make beef jerky. They taste better than all the store bought jerky on the market and you can make them taste just the way you like it. Thats better as it means theres no need to flip the jerky over later. An electric smoker will introduce a small amount of smoke but a charcoal or hardwood fire will generate plenty of smoke.
