The united states highway transportation safety administration says there is no regulation prohibiting parents from using an expired car seat but on the national highway traffic safety administration s website parents are advised the seat has labels stating date of manufacture and model number. If you get in a wreck and or something happens to baby because the car seat is expired you will not be given another car seat which you normally would by your insurance or the other person involved i don t even know if baby s injuries would be insured because baby wouldn t technically be safely secured like riding without a seatbelt and the hospital may also not let you go home with baby in an expired seat after delivery. It s in great condition no visible cracks it hasn t been through any accidents.
