Can You Use Water Instead Of Coolant
Camila Farah
After all automotive coolant is generally known as anti freeze and what is the point of using antifreeze if your automobile will never be driven in conditions below 32 degrees fahrenheit.
To summarize if using water. Drive slowly cruising at the same speed and not for too long. Never use it if the outside temperature is really low. The engine will tend to overheat with it so don t stress the engine too much.
Yes you could use water as a coolant in an emergency. The engines were simple and this resulted in less overheating. However doing so is not recommended since water won t work well beyond its freezing and boiling points. A few years ago most cars only ran with water in the radiator.
It is not recommended to use only water in the radiator or coolant system because it may cause your engine to freeze in cold weather which may damage your engine seriously. This could also cause expensive engine damage. So use it only in unavoidable situations. You can use it instead of coolant but only in emergencies.
