It lead to the stop of slavery in the south and abolished the union and created the usa. The election of abraham lincoln is considered to be one of the major events that led to the start of the civil war in 1861. The civil war began primarily as a result of the long standing controversy over the enslavement of black people. American president abraham lincoln declared in his inaugural address that he would use force to maintain possession of federal property and the war began with the confederate attack on fort sumter on april 12 1861.

The south had few schools or churches. 16 1859 he led a group of 17 including five black members to raid the arsenal located in harper s ferry virginia now west virginia. The american civil war started due to the secession of southern states who then went on to form a new federal government the confederate states of america.
