Can You See The Moon During The Day
Camila Farah
The sun is the big yellow white ball in the sky during the day while the moon is the shape changing one that glows at night.
Sometimes to see the moon you d have to look through the earth and we can t do that o meara said. And that s true except when it s not. Sometimes smack in the middle. So by definition a full moon can usually only be seen during the night.
If you look closely you can see the faint glow of the dark part of the moon. But we don t see the moon all the time during the day and that s because of where the moon might be in the sky. Look in the west sky to see the moon during the day before it sets. When the moon is close to the new moon cycle it is too close to the sun for us to see during the day and when it is nearing the full moon cycle it only becomes visible during the night.
If you have ever spotted a full moon just after sunrise or just before sunset it is very likely that you saw it at least one day before or after the actual full moon phase. We can also see the moon right now because it is not full or new. The best times to look at the moon during the daylight hours are during the first and last quarter of it cycle. Secondly the duration for which it is above the horizon of earth coincides with the sun making it possible to be seen during the daytime.

The moon can sometimes appear in the sky during the daytime because it is the closest object to earth and because its orbital cycle means that sometimes it is brighter in the day than at night. This called the new moon. Although it s almost always possible to see the moon during the day for at least a short time the best and easiest time to see the moon is this week when it s getting brighter as it waxes towards. Let s look into these two reasons in more detail to understand the science of moon sightings during the day.
